Colin Cushion
Journalism, Theatre & Mental Health Storytelling
I write stories that live where performance, lived experience and the human mind collide. This site is my portfolio and my journal. A place for polished journalism, raw truth, and everything in between.
Selected Work

Pinocchio at Shakespeare’s Globe A Night That Stayed With Me
A winter night at Shakespeare’s Globe that became more than theatre. Somewhere between rain, wood and moonlight, a wooden boy reminded me what it means to become real.

Sleeping Beauty at the Palladium: A Gorgeous Night That Feels Ready to Evolve
This tenth anniversary season arrives with the familiar glitter and scale the Palladium Panto is known for, yet beneath the spectacle sits a lingering sense of sameness. Sleeping Beauty brings moments of unfiltered joy, but it also shows the cracks of a production beginning to stand still.

Standing Still by Royal Victoria Dock
As the sun settles over Victoria Dock, the noise of the city loses its grip. In the stillness, I find a rare moment of calm, face the familiar weight that waits beyond it, and realise the problem was never the monster itself, but how I chose to see it.
Why I Write
I write because silence never saved anyone. I write to make sense of the world and to let other people feel less alone inside theirs. I grew up believing stories were entertainment. Now I know they are survival; a way to be seen, to be understood, and to keep going when everything feels like too much.
This is a place for honesty, not perfection.
